Announcing Best of Vintage Manchester Awards 2013

Hurrah! We cant believe its been almost a year since the first Best Of Vintage Manchester Awards held at Matt & Phreds in the Northern Quarter…

But here we are announcing the second edition!

Lots of changes have occurred on the vintage scene in Manchester since the last awards, some of the more regular nights are no more like The Whim Wham Club at Charlie’s (who won best vintage night out last year) and Slippery Belle Burlesque at The Star & Garter. The guys from Whim Wham now focus on their gin salon and eatery- which hosts vintage style entertainment at weekends.

Some of our winners have gone on to collect other awards after winning at our event last year- big cheers for them please (we’re looking at you Vintage Village) and some have even branched out and made their businesses stronger by teaming up with fellow vintage businesses- having met at our awards last year, hatching their plans then!

Also on the back of winning Best Vintage Clothing Retailer Jadore vintage opened their shop in Prestwich. Fantstic news for Prestwich!

Some entrants from last year no longer reside in Manchester, for example milliner and seamstress, and winner of Best Vintage Inspired Designer Kalandra Jane. Winner of Best Vintage Venue- Sugar Junction has changed ownership and there is a flurry of china suppliers and new vintage photography and makeover studios on the block now too.

Pleasingly for everyone, more men are now showing an interest in the scene or coming out of the woodwork, and men’s vintage clothing specialists are finally cropping up more and more, like Froggy Went Courting, as well grooming solutions like Gladstone Grooming.

We need to emphasise that when nominating, it is only businesses that trade/function in the Greater Manchester area that qualify. Please see the map below for clarification, and we do check each individual nomination so make sure yours count.

*Nominations now open go here*

Nominations close at the end of August with Finalists announced in the first week of September. Voting for the finalists will then close at the end of September.

  1. Will there be a “Best Vintage Clothing Wholesaler” category?

  2. Wah, I’ve been in Manchester most of the year! But yes, by the time the polls open I’ll have been gone a few weeks. I’ll still definitely be coming over for the awards though, it’s already in the diary :D

    • Oh brilliant! Manchester’s loss is Liverpool’s gain, and we do have to draw a line somewhere regretfully!

Here’s an article recently posted by Manchester Fashion Week about the fair. Please take a look…
