I think any girl who is into the vintage look will have been to or of least heard of Nina’s Vintage Hair Parlour in Alfie’s Antique Market, London. Nina is ace- the Queen of vintage hair in my eyes!
But living in Manchester I wanted to find somewhere a bit more local to do my hair! So after asking that very
question on Twitter, Gwyneth of Vintage Afternoon Teas came to my rescue and recommended a chap called Richard at Elliot McClarance in Altrincham. (Just to add as of 7th Aug 2011 Richard has moved salons to Sand in Altrincham)
After a chat about what I wanted- a 1940′s glamorous look naturally! He set to work, cutting my hair into a middy kind of shape which would take and hold the curl better. See the Lisa Freemont Pages for detailed information about the middy haircut and where I originally got this diagram from.
He also recommended a wet set, which involved me sitting under one of those hood hairdryers for ages (I have a lot of hair) but the final result was worth it!
I was really pleased with the outcome and the fast that Richard had listened to what I wanted and not attempted to convince me to have my hair straight, which is what most stylists have done in the past.
Where do you go to get your hair done? And what do you ask for?
